Samsung has announced that the Galaxy Spica i5700 is getting an official upgrade to Android 2.1 – earlier than expected (previous rumors had it that the upgrade would only come in the second quarter of the year).
The Android 2.1 upgrade will be made via Samsung’s PC Studio 7 software, which is pre-installed on the Galaxy Spica and can also be downloaded via Samsung’s official website.
Starting this month, the upgrade will be available in Germany. It will then be gradually released in other European markets, as well as in Asia, Africa and other markets.
With Android 2.1, Samsung Galaxy Spica gets an enhanced user experience and enhanced multimedia and messaging functionality.
Recently launched by Rogers in Canada, the Samsung Galaxy Spica i5700 features a 3.2 inch HVGA touchscreen display, HSDPA, A-GPS, Wi-Fi, 3.2MP autofocus camera and an 800 MHz processor.
